Scientists! What can we do?
As we face an escalating planetary crisis in a “post-truth” era, how can scientists be most effective in informing and accelerating positive transformations? If you’re a scientist reading this post...
As of 1st August 2025
Throughout 2024 I had the privilege of coordinating this book project, which has taken the form of a collection of short personal essays from scientists who have become activists. One of my roles in the project has been to work with scientists to tell their unique stories in compelling, and sometimes emotionally vulnerable, ways - something that often doesn't come naturally to us!
We hope that amongst the 25 voices in in the book (mine included) there will be words, feelings and moments that resonate with anyone who reads it - whether you consider yourself a scientist or not. I've certainly felt inspired and empowered by the journeys from knowing to acting that I've had the honour of immersing myself in this past year!
With huge thanks to my fellow coordinators Dr Caroline Vincent & Dr Viola Ross-Smith, to our publishers O'Mara Books and to all who have otherwise contributed to the project, it's now been published. Priced under £10. It is available from bookshops and to order online, for example here.
As of August 2025, its is also available as an audiobook via all major platforms.
